School Advisory Committee (SAC)

School Advisory Committee (SAC)

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of the community – the principal, teachers, education support employees, students, parents, and other business and community citizens. A majority of the members of each school advisory council must be persons who are not employed by the school district. The SAC serves as a voice for school improvement by assisting the principal in preparing and evaluating the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and providing input on the school's budget. Council members representing teachers, education support employees, students, and parents are elected by their respective peer group, and business and community members are selected to ensure representation of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school. The SAC plays a crucial role in fostering continuous improvement and ensuring that the school's decisions reflect the needs of all stakeholders.

See below for guidelines on counting the votes:

6. Tallying of the final vote will be completed in an open forum by the SAC

Subcommittee and/or principal, along with any instructional personnel

representative and any educational support employee representative. The

date and time for tallying the final vote must be advertised for at least three

days and open for all stakeholder groups to attend.

a. If there is a tie for the most votes between two or more options, a new

final ballot will be developed by the SAC Subcommittee and/or

principal and a new vote will need to occur with only the options that

received the most votes in the tie.

b. If “none of the above” receives the most votes, the SAC Subcommittee

and/or principal will restart the process of requesting proposals if time

permits prior to February 1 (§1008.36(4), Fla. Stat.)

Counting to happen on Friday, 12/5/2025
