I am continually inspired by the kindness our students show one another each day. Across classrooms and activities, they collaborate thoughtfully, work together with purpose, and encourage each other to do their best. Whether solving problems, sharing ideas, or lending a helping hand, our students demonstrate respect, teamwork, and genuine care for one another. I am incredibly proud of the positive community they are building and the way they lift each other up.
Hamlin is excited with the amount of growth our students have made. We recently did our FAST assessments. Many of our students have already scored level three or above on their FAST middle of year assessments. This means that many of our students are already demonstrating that they are making significant progress toward grade level standards. Students who are scoring a level two are coming along, and with continued instruction and support, we are optimistic that they will reach a level three or higher by the end of the year assessment. Students scoring a level one at this time are demonstrating that they are not “yet” making the progress and growth that we would like to see by this time of the year.
These students will continue to receive a high level of support and interventions during the school day. This will help to continue to develop their skills and effectively support them towards grade level success. Our teachers are amazing and they will be working hand and hand with parents and families to continue the success of each student.
One thing you can do to assist these students is to utilize the computer programs in reading and math, have students do their homework, have good attendance, and track their grades and assignments on Skyward. To help support the continued success of all of our scholars, we need parent support in making sure that students are present in school, on time, and are not checked out early. We know that illness and doctor’s appointments often necessitate missing school, but we are hopeful that parents can help limit absences to those reasons.
Please schedule vacations on days or weeks we are out of school. Absences for other reasons affect not only the student that is absent, but also his/her classmates. Absences and late arrival/early dismissal interrupt the overall flow of learning in a classroom and creates the need for teachers to spend time going back and catching kids up with their skills or assignments. If we are all mindful of strong attendance routines, we will continue to see high levels of success for all.
A huge thank you to all of our volunteers! We so appreciate all that you do for our school.
Finally, as reminder, there is no school tomorrow. See you Tuesday!
Best Regards,
