Dear Hamlin Families,
We are almost halfway through the last marking period of the school year. We want to continue to work together with our families to ensure academic growth and mastery of grade level standards for all our students. Our teachers are working hard to ensure they provide targeted instruction to all students and are prepared for the end of the year state assessments. Your assistance in ensuring that your child is present and on time every day this last marking period is appreciated. Please make sure your child(ren) are in class by 8:40 each morning.
Also, please make sure to stay off your cell phones in a school zone. Florida statutes define “A person may not operate a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device in a handheld manner in a designated school crossing, school zone, or work zone area as defined in s. 316.003(109)”. Please make sure you follow the law to keep our students, families, and staff safe.
Finally, please take a few moments to fill out the OCPS Stakeholder Survey. Your input is valuable to us. It can be complete by clicking on the anonymous link, https://tejoin.com/scroll/307191159.
Families with children at more than one school will see survey questions for each school. Thank you for your participation in the OCPS Stakeholder Survey.
Have a wonderful day!

The School Board of Orange County, Florida (Board) Policy JIC, titled “Code of Student Conduct,” in addition to Section 1006.07, Florida Statutes, requires the adoption of a Code of Student Conduct (Code). Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) has developed the Code to help students, parents/guardians, and school personnel understand the guidelines for maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment. The Code shall be discussed with students, school advisory committees, and parent/teacher associations at the beginning of each school year and quarterly thereafter and for transferring students upon their enrollment.
An electronic copy of the Code can be found online at the District website, on the OCPS app, or on OCPS school-issued devices.

We are excited to announce that Hamlin Elementary is participating in the district-wide reading challenge, Let’s Read, OCPS! This challenge will run from January 26 to April 30, 2026, and will encourage students to read for enjoyment and develop a lifelong love of reading by contributing to the district-wide goal of reading 50 million minutes! All reading is encouraged and celebrated! We believe that giving students the freedom to choose what they read is the key to igniting their passion for literacy. All reading counts!
How it Works
Each student's goal is to log at least 500 minutes of reading or 10 minutes daily into Beanstack. Beanstack is a free and easy-to-use app that can be found in the Library Research Tools folder on LaunchPad. Beanstack allows students to log their reading minutes, set reading goals, and earn virtual badges and rewards.
How to Participate
-
Log through Launchpad: Open Beanstack in the Library Research Tools folder on Launchpad to track your students’ reading daily and even set a timer while they read!
-
Download the mobile app: Visit the App Store or Google Play Store and download the Beanstack app to your mobile device. Search for “OCPS Hamlin Elememtary” and find your school to join the challenge.
-
Username: Student ID Number
-
Password: student last name, lowercase
-
Start Reading and Logging: Encourage your child to read books, magazines, or articles and log all of their reading time on Beanstack, daily.
-
Join in on the Conversation: Discuss with your child what they are reading and who their favorite characters are. Explore new genres or authors together, and be a reading role model to them! Use the hashtag #OCPSReads on social media and post what you’re reading or how you’re participating!
By participating in this challenge, your child will improve their reading skills and have the opportunity to win exciting prizes. Let's work together to make this reading challenge a success!
More information about the reading challenge can be found at read.ocps.net. Thank you for your support!

Students in K-2 are listening to Chester Van Chime Who Forgot how to Rhyme by Avery Monsen. This story is a great read to practice rhyming skills. It was a previous Sunshine State Young Readers book.
Students in grades 3-5 are learning about codes, encryption, decryption and how to use a cipher.

Hamlin Elementary is getting opportunities ready for volunteers to come in to help! All volunteers will need an active ADDitions account and review all the Guidelines and Waivers provided by our OCPS district.
Being up to date in ADDitions helps the process of being a field trip chaperone, lunchroom helper, attending/participating in daytime events held at the school, PTO events, classroom volunteer, media center help and so much more!
Here’s how to sign up/update your ADDitions account:
|
- Click "Sign Up” - Create a New Account / Answer the application questions
- Login (if you're a returning volunteer) / Update your safety questions
- Watch the ADDitions training video – located on the Main Dashboard
Opportunities Ready
Lunchroom help is needed! If you are looking to help, we need volunteers who enjoy circulating the entire room to help students in all grades with opening items, passing out utensils and napkins, and reminding students how to continue to be the best Hamlin Huskies in the lunchroom. This is not just to assist one child or have lunch with your child.
